On the sidelines of
MedSafetyWeek 2026
5–6Dec.
2026
Babylon Rotana Hotel,Baghdad
Dear Esteemed Colleagues and Distinguished Guests,
On the sidelines of MedSafetyWeek 2026, we are pleased to welcome you to the 3rd Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Conference, hosted by the Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Centre, Directorate of Technical Affairs, Ministry of Health.
Following last year’s focus on strengthening pharmacovigilance systems and risk minimization, this year’s conference turns to pharmacovigilance audits and inspections — key tools for verifying compliance, identifying gaps, and ensuring that systems work effectively in practice across both public and private sectors.
Together, we can strengthen pharmacovigilance practice, foster collaboration, and advance patient safety in Iraq.

Audits and inspections are not only regulatory requirements; they are opportunities to strengthen quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Strengthen pharmacovigilance audit and inspection practices across public and private sectors to enhance compliance, quality, accountability, and patient safety.
We will walk through the inspection lifecycle from the regulator’s and the inspected party’s perspectives. Topics include the legal basis and scope of inspections, routine versus for-cause triggers, and how inspection outcomes feed into regulatory decisions.
A practical focus on inspection readiness for marketing authorization holders and healthcare institutions. Discussions will cover the Pharmacovigilance System Master File as a living document, data quality and traceability, and the documentation inspectors expect to find. We will review the most common findings and how to avoid them.
Audit is the internal counterpart to inspection. This session covers risk-based audit planning, audit scope and independence, and audit of outsourced activities. It closes with what happens after a finding — root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action, and verifying that the fix held.
Regulators and inspectors, marketing authorization holders, and healthcare institutions from both the public and private sectors.
#MedSafetyWeek is an annual social media campaign that asks patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to report suspected side effects of medicines. Every report adds to what regulators know about how medicines behave in everyday use, and helps make them safer for everyone.
The 3rd Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Conference takes place on the sidelines of MedSafetyWeek 2026, bringing the campaign’s message to the people who build, audit and inspect the systems that act on those reports.

Anyone (whether a patient, caregiver, or someone close to the patient) can report side effects. These reports help identify new adverse reactions and gather more information about known ones, improving medicine safety overall.
The Iraqi Pharmacovigilance Centre may contact you for additional information if needed to help assess the case.
Reports are reviewed by the Pharmacovigilance Centre and securely stored in the national database to support medicine safety improvement.
Yes, report any suspected side effect.
